Hervé was born in Paris on Shakespeare’s Birthday, April 23rd, 1943. He studied at the Beaux-Arts in Paris and exhibited his paintings which were well received critically. At the age of 21 he left France for the USA where he continued to paint and do photography. He also started to develop an interest in acting and did many roles in Off-Broadway theater. Quickly he was spotted for appearances in movies. He acted in "The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight", "Greaser’s Palace," "Malatesta’s Carnival of Blood," "The Man With the Golden Gun," and received his widest exposure on the television series, "Fantasy Island," starring as Tattoo. In a dispute over his contract, he left the show which folded one year later. In 1999, archive footage was used in the TV special "Herve Villechaize: The E! True Hollywood Story."
